This is a photo of me and my friend Chris on his wedding day in 2002. Chris is wearing the snazzy suit and flower. He was very happy that day, as was his bride Michele.
Chris died last weekend at his home in Los Angeles. He was shot in the head apparently by accident in a drive-by shooting. He was father to two beloved dogs and a cat, and worked for LA County in its STD prevention program. He was fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and was a fine dancer. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences
Thank you. His wife told me that she knew he was in a good place in life. That makes it somehow a little easier, but it doesn't make the shock of it go away.
Wow, harsh. You just never know when your life or a loved one's is going to be robbed from before you. Sorry to hear it, Jeff.
Sorry man, sometimes things make no sense at all.
the irony that he devoted his working life to helping people... my sincerest condolences.
Thanks everyone. He was focused on disease prevention, especially in young and poor people. That was his calling.
I have nothing to add....except maybe a couple tears. Condolences...
It's heartbreaking to hear that the world loses somebody who brought so much good to it. My condolences go out to you.
Makes the saying " live every day as if it were your last' ring more true than ever. So sorry Gazelle. My best to you and his family.
I'm really sorry to hear this, my thoughts are with you and his family.
