Does anyone out there know if there are any good spots for this near Portland? Maybe I'm breaching a river surfer code asking but screw it, I'm dying to try this.

Apparently near Eugene...
There is a surfer down there who is big into river boarding and owns a barber shop... He was featured in The Surfer's Path a couple of years ago.
Also, a little bird told me some people have been riding the wake off the barges in the Willamette on occasion, with the pilot's permission.
Thanks, foulweather. I somehow doubt that the quality and predictability of the Munich river waves will be matched in the PNW but I know there's got to be something out there. Think of the practice opportunities on one of these standing waves!
